Mini Review 5- Matilda

Tim Minchin is a genius. A brilliant adaptation, very funny, perfect for all ages, one of the best sets I have ever seen, even the annoying child actors were good (apart from matilda). Some flaws and kinks to be worked out still- needed to decide if it wanted Trunchball funny or evil, but still very good for a new show.

Mini Review 4- Hamlet

Who would have thought Hamlet could be enjoyable and funny? And all it needed was two men and some african chanting. A completely unique production that should never have worked but completely did.

Mini Review 3- Blithe Spirit

Though it had a lot of big names in, and I can appreciate it was a well done show, it felt like something my grandparents would have enjoyed rather than me.

Mini Reveiw 2- Lily Through the Dark.

Utterly compelling and beautifully moving; took the audience on a journey creating an incredible atmosphere- from laugher to complete silence. Very intelligently performed- subject wise and staging wise- whilst still in the guise of a children’s story.

Mini Review 1- Enron

Possibly the first play I have ever not got straight away. Too much buisness jargon and relience on pop culture refernces and flashy lights, but when stripped to basics a fairly moving story about the consequences of human failings.

Matilda Trailer

Hi!

Hello everyone, I'm Hattie, a first year drama studies student from Bath Spa Uni. I'm going to be using this blog to post reviews of the different things I see at the theatre this year, and possibly other things related to theatre and drama.
I've never blogged before so I guess it'll take me a while to be able to put things across in my own special way, but bare with me and I'll get there eventually. I'm sure it'll be an interesting ride either way.
I'll try to post fairly regularly, probably about once a week with a little reveiw of all the things I've been to see. There are a long list of productions I'm going to before christmas, mostly with uni, but I must admit the one I'm most excited about it the new RSC musical version of Matilda- with music and lyrics from the musical genius that is Mr Tim Minchin- which I'm going home to see.
Anyway thats all for now...
